KUCHING: All Ramadan bazaar stalls in ‘hotspot’ areas and high-risk stalls must be inspected and monitored at least once throughout the month of Ramadan.
As there are nine locations where the bazaar is held under the Padawan Municipal Council’s (MPP) jurisdiction, its chairman Lo Khere Chiang said the council will carry out food sampling activities throughout the period the bazaars operate.
“The type of food that the council needs to sample is food that is at high risk of contamination.
“Food sampling activity is also assisted by the Ministry of Health (MOH),” he said in a statement today (March 26).
Lo said it is a prerequisite for the bazaar operators to ensure the hawkers registered with them have typhoid vaccinations and attend a food handlers’ course.
The bazaar Ramadan operator is then required to submit their hawker registration, complete with vaccination status and food handler courses, to MPP before they can allow them to commence the bazaar.
