KUCHING: The Sarawak Social Development Council (MPS) has lined up various activities this year with more emphasis on physical, economical and social aspects.

Welfare, Women and Community Wellbeing Minister Datuk Hajah Fatimah Abdullah said that since MPS core activity was based on researches, the results of the research had to be shared with the public.

“All research results have to be made known to the public for awareness purposes, and of course, to the policy makers in case if there is any proposal for policy changes based on the research that has been embarked upon,” she told a press conference held after the MPS meeting at Wisma Wanita, Jalan Sultan Tengah, yesterday.

Fatimah said the Malaysian Drug Prevention Association (Pemadam) would also be involved with the implementation of programmes which focussed on the drug abuse among youths.

“We have been continuously creating awareness among our young people on the dangers of drugs, teenage marriages and teenage pregnancy among youths with our ‘Wacana Bestari’ programme,” she said.
