KUCHING: Kuching Division Bodybuilding Association (KDBBA), led by its president George Awi William, paid a courtesy visit to the office of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah yesterday (June 10).
The aim of the visit was to introduce the association, its programmes and activities to the minister.
The association will be holding Mr Kuching Championship 2022 on June 18, 2022.
Its secretary Philomena Dexclyn Siar, who was also present during the visit, said one of the association’s objectives was to encourage the participation and involvement of women in bodybuilding, whether as athletes, coaches or competition judges.
“The championship will be held a week from now; KDBBA will be the first to introduce the women’s category.
“KDBBA also conducts programmes specifically for women including basic and advanced bodybuilding training courses, coaching courses and judging courses,” she added.
KDBBA is one of the affiliated bodies of the Sarawak Bodybuilding Association (SBBA) under the leadership of Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng. It was officially registered as a divisional level sports association under the Sports Development Act 1997 on March 21, 2022.
Also present were KDBBA deputy president Ghaz Ghazali, its treasurer Mohd Noor Amran and committee member Dr Malvern Abdullah.
