MIRI: The Welfare, Health and Community Sub-Committee of Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Miri Branch visited two families with poor socio-economic background at Sealine Senadin Jaya yesterday.

The chairman of the Sub-Committee, Dr Uma Devi delivered a short talk which covered Dangers of Plastics, Importance of Cleanliness and Healthy Food to educate the family members.

This visit was then continued with a briefing by Roslan Ali from Miri City Council (MCC) to two families on the services provided by the Council on the approach for highlighting the related issues to the Council.

During the visit, the team also brought along stainless steel food containers to be distributed to the two family members as part of the exercise to stress on the dangers of plastic containers.

These stainless steel food containers were donated by a group of donors who wished to remain anonymous and MRC Miri Branch would like to take this opportunity to express their appreciation to this group of donors, the committee said in a statement yesterday.

“Such visit will be organised from time to time and we hope there are more volunteers that could come forward and join us to make this community a better place,” it added.
