MIRI: The Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Miri Chapter’s second dialysis centre in Permyjaya is expected to be fully operational in early March this year.

Minister for Transport Sarawak Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin cum MRC Miri vice-chairman I said, the centre had received operational permit in January this year.

“We are now moving (to the new centre) in stages,” he told the local media yesterday.

Earlier, Lee witnessed the handing over of four dialysis machines (manufactured in Germany) contributed by a chartered accountants company, Sidney Lau and Co to the dialysis centre in Permyjaya worth at RM186,899.

The construction of the centre was commenced in 2019 and it was completed in March 2021 with an estimated cost of over RM6 million.

Once the centre started to fully operational on March this year, it would be able to accommodate 240 patients and 40 dialysis machines.

Currently, the centre has a total 30 dialysis machines, that were donated by various non-governmental organisations (NGOs) including Shell and PETRONAS.
