SERIAN: A total of RM232,000 from the Minor Rural Project (MRP) fund was allocated to 21 recipients in Kedup, showcasing the Sarawak government’s commitment to rural development and community welfare.

The cheque-presentation ceremony took place at the Kedup Service Centre on Thursday (Oct 17).

Officiating at the event was Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Datuk Martin Ben, who also serves as the Kedup assemblyman.

He congratulated the recipients, stressing the importance of utilising the funds responsibly and as per planned needs.

He also reminded them to maintain detailed records of expenditures for monitoring purposes.

The recipients of the MRP funds included Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) leaders from schools in the Kedup area, department and government office club chairpersons, Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) heads, church representatives, and Women’s Bureau leaders.

In addition to the MRP fund distribution, Martin also presented a one-off educational incentive of RM500 to six parents whose children are set to pursue studies at local universities.
