PUSA: Minor rural project (MRP) grants totalling RM160,000 will be given to village security and development committees (JKKK) and the management committees of mosques, surau and churches in the Beting Maro state constituency.
Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor said the allocation was to assist community leaders in looking after the welfare of villagers.
He added that community leaders had been directed to gather information (such as household data, number of households, number of people with disabilities, B40 and M40 groups, including single individuals and others) to facilitate the distribution of assistance.
“We will also assist the asnaf group in obtaining assistance from Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak.
“In addition, I was informed that Batang Lupar MP Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim planned to distribute food aid (from the federal government) to the elderly and disabled in some villages.
“At the same time, I am also in the process of negotiating with Koperasi Kariah Masjid Beladin al-Amin so that they can serve as an essential food supply centre,” Razaili explained.
When asked about the Sarawak government’s plan to supply RM16.4mil worth of food aid to target groups statewide, he said he was still waiting for more details.
He added that the Beting Maro service centre and its JKKKs were always ready to distribute assistance besides actively distributing as much information as possible on Covid-19, movement control order, Prihatin Economic Stimulus Package and Sarawakku Sayang Special Aid Package.
