BINTULU: Excitement filled the town as 500 students from various primary schools took part in the ‘Mari Mencuba Sukan Muaythai’ programme.
Organised by the Sarawak State Muaythai Association (PMNS), the event was held at the Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Bintulu hall and Naim Street Mall @ Paragon here yesterday (May 24).
Hailing the initiative, PMNS President Jumaat Ibrahim expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received from the local schools.
“This programme is a testament to our commitment to promote Muaythai at the grassroots level, aiming to unearth budding talents in this exhilarating combat sport,” he said.
He added the event was a precursor to the Sarawak Premier Cup Muaythai Championship, slated from May 23 to 26, at the same venue.
The event, sanctioned by the Sarawak State Education Department and in close collaboration with the Bintulu Division Education Department and participating schools, also serves as a collective effort towards fostering sportsmanship and talent development.
