MIRI: The haze here appears to be persistent with most parts of the division enveloped in it.
The Air Pollutant Index (API) in the city as at 2pm increased to 90 from 88 in the morning.
As for the temperature, it was steady at 32 degrees Celcius.
Despite moderate rain early yesterday morning, the haze continued to stay, with Tudan and Senadin among the worst hit.
For the record, this city has not had any rain for the past couple of months and is now blanketed with the yellowish haze.
The haze is believed to have been caused by extensive open fires in Kuala Baram.
A check at Tudan Watch Tower yesterday showed a bushfire spotted in Kuala Baram, according to Miri Fire and Rescue zone 6 chief, Supt Law Poh Kiong.
Firemen from here and Lopeng have been mobilised to the burning areas.
