LUBOK ANTU: Muhamad Rafiq Ghaffari Mohd Abdul Sauki and Rabiah Kinchong were respectively crowned champions in the qari and qariah categories of the Quran Recitation Competition at the Sri Aman Division level held at Masjid Darul Huda near here last night.
Rafiq, representing the Sri Aman District, took home a cash prize of RM1,000.
The other representatives from the district, Masazizul Suhaili and Mohd Rafizi Wahab, secured the first runner-up and second runner-up positions, each receiving prizes of RM700 and RM500 respectively.
In the qariah category, the representative from Lingga District, Rabiah who was crowned champion also received a cash prize of RM1,000.
Dayang Nur Afira Abang Mohamad, also from Lingga District, emerged as the first runner-up, receiving RM700. The second runner-up, Sharifah Rohana Wan Zain representing Sri Aman District, received a prize of RM500.
Siti Hawa Mohamad Isa from Lubok Antu received RM150 as a consolation prize.
All prizes were presented by Sri Aman District Officer Shariff Bujang, who is also the deputy chairman of the Permanent Committee for Islamic Celebrations, Sri Aman Division.
In total, nine participants took part in the competition.
