KUCHING: National Recovery Council chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin congratulated national diving queen Datuk Pandelela Rinong Pamg after she was conferred the Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak, Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak (PSBS), which carries the title ‘Dato’.
The former prime minister in a Facebook post yesterday (Oct 10), said the conferment of the award was very appropriate taking into account the contribution and service given in making the country famous on the world stage.
“Certainly, the award received in conjunction with the birthday celebration of the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud became sweeter and more meaningful for Datuk Pandelela as it falls on National Sports Day,” he said.
Muhyiddin hoped that the award will continue to inject a high motivation to fight harder for Malaysia.
“Congratulations, Datuk Pandelela Rinong!” he said.
Pandelela, the Bau-born Olympian was among the 38 recipients who received various state awards and medals during an investiture ceremony held in conjunction with Taib’s 85th birthday celebration at the State Legislative Assembly Complex last Saturday (Oct 9).
