KOTA SAMARAHAN: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said he was touched by the prayer recited by a frail former ‘penghulu’ (village head) he visited during the Ziarah Kasih programme in Kampung Sindang here today (April 2).
He said that Aris Johari, 74, one of the villagers he visited under the programme, had recited a prayer for the prime minister to continue with efforts to help the people.
“The prayers recited by ordinary people for leaders are extraordinary. Leaders like us always pray for our people to have good lives,” he said.
He said this when speaking at a get-together with community leaders at the Institute of Teachers Education (IPG) Tun Abdul Razak Campus, which he attended after participating in the Ziarah Kasih programme.
His wife Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman, Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and several federal and state ministers were also present.
Meanwhile, another resident of Kampung Sindang, Selha Slet, 67, a single mother of five children, said it was like a dream when Muhyiddin visited her home and spent about 20 minutes talking with her and her family.
“I had palpitations as soon as I found out that the prime minister wanted to visit us. All this while I only watched him on television, but today he was before my own eyes. I feel very lucky; our rezeki that he was willing to come to our house.
“Our prime minister is very friendly and caring about the people,” said Selha, whose husband died in 2014. – Bernama
