KUCHING: The new federal government will be formed soon, Perikatan Nasional (PN) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said.
In his official Facebook post, Muhyiddin said Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman and Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, and Parti Islam SeMalaysia (PAS) president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang visited him in Kuala Lumpur this morning (Nov 20) to put a government together.
“I have met the two leaders to discuss the formation of the federal government.
“We also negotiated with other parties who are on the same wavelength with us and the Independent MPs as well.
“God willing, the new federal government can be formed in anytime soon,” he said.
PN managed to secure 73 seats with its coalition partner PAS winning 49 seats and Bersatu (24).
Meanwhile, GPS secured 22 seats of the 31 parliamentary seats through its coalition partners Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu – PBB (14 seats), Parti Rakyat Sarawak – PRS (five), United People’s Party – SUPP (two) and Progressive Democratic Party – PDP (one).
The results of the Baram seat have yet to be announced.
