MUKAH: The public here, especially in low-lying areas, have been advised to be vigilant amid the current inclement weather.

Agencies such as the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) here are on high alert in case of floods.

On Thursday (Jan 13) from 1am until 2.21am, three APM personnel were reported to be monitoring the Mateding area, Jalan Mukah-Balingian, which was said to be experiencing a rise in water level.

Mukah APM officer Zuriza Sharkawi said during the operation, everything was under control and water had receded.

“We advise the public to be cautious, and if the situation is beyond their control, they are to call Bilik Gerakan Bencana Daerah or Pusat Kawalan Operasi Daerah.”

She added that APM would continue to monitor the situation here from time to time.
