MUKAH: Taska Permata Kemas Kampung Jebungan here won the Quality Taska Award 2019 during an Early Childhood Development dialogue held at a leading hotel in Kuching on Saturday. It bagged RM7,000 and a certificate.
Teacher Zaliha Sahri said they did not expect to win the award because there were nine equally good contenders from other agencies such as Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC)-owned Sedidik and National Unity and Integration Department (NUID)-owned Perpaduan.
The panel of judges came from the Education Department, NUID, Community Development Department (Kemas), Sedidik and the Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Ministry.
“We will use the prize money to brighten up our centre and for activities and programmes involving parents of children registered with us,” she told New Sarawak Tribune through WhatsApp yesterday.
First runner-up Taska Sedidik Mutiara, Mukah and second runner-up Taska Permata Kemas Nanga Lipus, Kanowit received RM6,000 and RM5,000 respectively.
Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud gave away the prizes to the winners. He also handed over an annual government grant of RM5,000 to Tabika Kemas Sungai Laru, Kuching.
