MUKAH: Shirley Peing has been appointed as the new chairman of Mukah Division Bird’s Nest Traders Association for 2022/2023.
“I would like to extend my appreciation to the former committee. Without them, we wouldn’t be here today.
“Regarding the issue of licensing to breed swiftlets, we have already heard the commitment from both our elected representatives who will bring the voices of swiftlet breeders to the State Legislative Assembly,” she said.
She also hoped that all parties would remain patient so that a licensing law could be enacted to help farmers in Mukah Division.
Meanwhile, association advisor Charles Pieng Uneng said since the association was established, various ways had been done to overcome the challenges it faced.
He hoped new members would continue to maintain the cooperation and continue to communicate with each other.
He also called on swiftlet farmers in Mukah to always abide by government laws, especially controlling the noise to attract swiftlets to avoid disturbing other residents.
“Most importantly, I hope the farmers in Mukah can register as members so that they can progress together and be able to safeguard the interests of the industry.”
