MUKAH: The Mukah Dragon, Lion and Wushu Association team secured 54 gold medals at the Lion Dance and Wushu Championship held in conjunction with the state-level National Sports Day 2023, recently.

Its chairman, Ho Ing Siong, stated that they also won 21 silver medals and eight bronze medals from the championship.

“As for the overall group award, SJKC Chong Boon Mukah was named the first runner-up.

“The best athlete category for secondary schools was won by Dhamia Qhayra Mohammad from SMK St Patrick Mukah.

“The best athlete in the primary school category were Sean Lau Siew Hong, Daniel Tu Zheng Jin, Vicky Ling Hui Chi, Jaycee Ling Zee Sing from SJKC Chong Boon, and Benson Hii Nian You from SJKC Ek Hua.”
He said their team’s participants were made up of students from the Mukah area, including both secondary and primary schools.

At the same time, Ho expressed his joy and satisfaction with his team’s achievement this time because the total number of medals they obtained was higher than in previous championships.

He added that the total number of participants was around 500 people, and they came not only from Mukah and Sibu but also from Kuching, Sarikei, Miri, and Bintulu.
