MUKAH: Members of the Mukah Area Farmers Association (AFA) are encouraged to explore the market more widely for the agricultural products produced.
Mukah AFA chairman Manuchihr Smith said this also involves the packaging and relabelling of products.
“This packaging and relabelling process can be done under the Mukah AFA brand.
“In addition, there are many products that can be highlighted such as dried cookies and handicraft products.
“Indirectly, it opens vast opportunities for women farmers to be actively involved and more active,” he said during the 38th Mukah AFA Annual General Meeting, at the New Administration Centre of the Mukah Division, here, recently.
According to him, this market is very extensive in all areas including a network in 28 AFAs throughout Sarawak including the State Farmers Association.
At the same time, he said, Mukah AFA members are able to act as middlemen by selling in bulk or according to the current market for various types of crops produced due to high demand in the market from the public.
Accordingly, it can attract interest and job opportunities in the agricultural sector, especially for young people and women farmers.
Also present were Mukah AFA general manager Madihi Marsi and officers from the Kuching Farmers Institution Division Annuar Seri, Abu Bakar Sepawi and Nor Assanah.
