MUKAH: The construction of the Mukah Giat Mara centre at KM10, Jalan Mukah-Oya here was slated to commenced last June.

This is yet another skills development centre project in the making in the area, located next to the ongoing Sarawak Skills Development Centre (PPKS) project, which is just a few metres away and is expected to be completed soon.

New Sarawak Tribune recently discovered that piling work was being done.

According to the signboard at the site, the Giat Mara project components comprise an administrative block, two workshop blocks and transit blocks respectively, and a garbage centre.

Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara), Kuala Lumpur is the client of the project.

The project contractor is APPL Engineering Services Sdn Bhd, Kuching; while Adesign Architects Sdn Bhd, Kuching is the architect; and Perunding TRA, Kuching is responsible for civil/structural engineering work.

Jurutera Azan Bersekutu Sdn Bhd, Kuching and Perunding Ukuran Bahan ASMY, Kuching have been appointed as mechanical/electrical engineer and quantity surveyors respectively.

The project, which commenced on June 18, 2020, is scheduled to be completed Nov 4, 2021.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who was then Rural and Regional Development Minister, officiated at the earth-breaking ceremony in 2016.
