MUKAH: Malaysian Government Servants Welfare and Sports Council (Maksak) Mukah Division organised a Mukah Gemilang Dinner 2022 at Kingwood Resort here on Sunday (Feb 6) to appreciate and celebrate all frontliners who have worked hard throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) on Tuesday (Feb 8), the dinner was also organised to celebrate Mukah Division Love the Environment Day 2022.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib, who is also Mukah MP, said the sacrifices of frontlines and the good cooperation shown by the people had yielded significant results in curbing the pandemic.
“Almost all social and economic activities had to be stopped in order to break the chain of transmissions.
“Meanwhile, the Mukah Division Love the Environment Day celebration has become a platform for public involvement to raise awareness and take action to take care of the environment, be it individually or in an integrated manner at the district, division, and state level.”
Hanifah added that this agenda could not be achieved without the involvement of all government parties, the private sector, non-governmental organisations, and all strata of the community.
She said this programme was a platform to empower individuals, families, and the community towards environmental sustainability.
She said this should be continued to help inculcate love for the environment so that a new culture can be created, in which consideration of caring for the environment becomes part of daily life.
Hanifah also said that education and awareness towards environmental conservation and protection required knowledge, understanding, attitude change, and participation among the community.
She hoped that such programmes would inspire the organisation of environment-friendly activities in the future.
