KUCHING: Mukah Division will be hosting this year’s state-level National Day celebration with the theme “Malaysia MADANI: Tekad Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan”.
More than 1,500 visitors are anticipated for the event, which will take place on Aug 31 at Mukah Sarawak Polytechnic.
Sarawak Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the programme to be held on Aug 30 and 31 will emphasise the concept of inclusion which will involve every strata of society to participate in the event.
“The programme will adhere to the principles of inclusion for unity as we want to make sure that every strata of society regardless of background, age, religion and gender can be equally involved in the event that will be held.
“Various interesting events will be held in conjunction with this national day celebration and are expected to attract and achieve the objective of strengthening unity,” she said.
She said this during a press conference on the National Day Celebration at the Baitulmakmur Building II, here, today.
Meanwhile, she added that on the eve of Aug 31, various interesting events would be held for the public to enjoy and participate in.
Separately, Sarawak Protocol, Ceremonies and Event Management Unit (UPPANS) director Datuk Mohamad Junaidi Mohidin announced that Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib are expected to attend the event.
In addition, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang are also expected to be present to enliven the celebration together with the people of Mukah.
Members of the public can expect interesting activities to be held including a beauty pageant ‘Queen of Unity’ competition, local artistes’ performances, and fireworks to be held during the event.
