Mukah’s ‘Be The Star Tonight’ karaoke contest draws strong response

KUCHING: The ‘Be The Star Tonight’ karaoke competition, organised by the Social Bureau of the Majlis Ketua Masyarakat dan Ketua Kaum (KMKK) Mukah District, received a strong response from local residents.

The competition was open to residents of Oya, Mukah and Balingian, with an initial total of 20 entries. After screening, 10 participants qualified for the final round. 

“The purpose of the competition is to unearth local talents and promote community engagement,” said Pemanca Mohamad Jali Kawi. The competition took place at the Kampung Tellian Tengah Multipurpose Hall recently. 

Jali expressed his satisfaction with the successful execution of planned activities throughout the year, with more activities scheduled for the future.

“At the same time, I’d like to congratulate and express my gratitude to those involved in making the event a success.”

The competition’s winners included Zuki Saffaee as the champion, Nizam Putit as the runner-up, and Talip Perasih in third place. 

These talented individuals earned the opportunity to perform during the Mukah District’s Malaysia Day celebration at Dataran Pehin Setia Raja on Sept 16.

The event was attended by Mukah assemblyman Royston Valentine; Mukah Service Centre Officer, Almalhakim Norshidi; and acting Mukah District Officer, Peleadzman Ahip.
