Mukah’s first female Resident makes inaugural official public appearance

MUKAH Resident Hamdiah Bakir (seated centre) and other guests at the Thanksgiving Meal held in conjunction with the Mukah Division National Day Celebration at Kingwood Hotel, in Mukah over the weekend.

MUKAH: Mukah’s first female Resident made her first public official appearance over the weekend since helming this division administration a month ago.

She  was  the  guest-of-honour at the Mukah Division National Day Celebration 2018 held at Kingwood Hotel, here,  on August 31, recently.

Hailed from the gas town of Bintulu, Hamdiah Bakir, who is the sixth Resident of this tenth division of the state, replaced Awang Johari Awang Mustapha.

She introduced herself to the community leaders and all those present at that auspicious occasion.

“Just for your information, today is exactly one month since I came here on transfer. Salam Berkenalan untuk semua especially the community leaders who are presents today,” she said.

Hamdiah pointed out that she needed the support and cooperation from all the government departments and agencies in the division, and also the community leaders in planning and implementing the development in the area.

She added, it included the organising of activities meant for the benefits and prosperity of the residents and Mukah Division as a whole.

Earlier, she flagged-off the Kayuhan Merdeka participated by about 60 riders from the area  at the compound of the hotel.

The auspicious occasion also featured dance from Sri Ritma Borneo, Poetry Declamation entitled `Tok Janggut’  by a student of MRSM Mukah Abdul Haggim Abdul Khaliddin, Coral Speaking entitled `Negaraku Malaysia’ by the Form 1 & 2 students of MARA Junior Science College, here and contemporary dance `The Legend of Dayak Crew’.

Also present at the function were Mukah Deputy Resident Abdul Halim Abdullah; Mukah District Officer, Shafrie Saili; Dalat District Officer, Kueh Lei Poh; Temenggong Haji Hendi Suhai; heads of departments and local community leaders.
