KAPIT: A local man’s marketing scheme of promoting beer for sale on social media, resulted in him being arrested by the police on yesterday (Apr 27).
His promotional tactics attracted the police’s attention at around 8 pm on Friday (Apr 26) when a post advertising beer at RM60 per crate surfaced on Facebook.
Kapit police chief DSP Rohana Nanu said that acting on information, a police team raided an unnumbered house in front of Kampung Surau, Jalan Abang Sulaihi at around 12.30 pm.
During the operation, the team managed to find seven crates of Camel beer suspected to be duty-not-paid goods, kept in a store below the house.
Following that, the 38-year-old suspect along with the seized beer, were taken to Kapit police station for further action.
The suspect will be remanded to facilitate investigations into the case under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967.
