KUCHING: It was a happy day for students of SMK Kai Chung, Bintangor, when Naim Foundation (Tabung Amanah Naim), a charitable arm of Naim Group of Companies, one of Malaysia’s leading developers and contractors, presented academic excellence awards to the school’s outstanding students. Naim’s Head of Corporate Communications, Caroline Yeo said the awards were part of the Foundation’s annual academic excellence awards programme for secondary schools in Sarawak. A total of 17 secondary schools in Sarawak are covered under the programme.
‘These awards are part of the Foundation’s community outreach programme which aims among others, to promote academic excellence among students and to assist underprivileged students,’ Yeo said. Yeo added that the Foundation, which was launched back in 2004, also provides assistance in other areas such as advancement of research and other charitable causes. The Principal of SMK Kai Chung, Lee Khung Kiong expressed his appreciation to Naim for the awards.
‘This awards are very meaningful and have helped our students, especially those from underprivileged families to achieve academic excellence, and cultivate better discipline among them.
We have also received encouraging responses from parents of the recipients, as these awards not only motivate their children, but at the same time reduce their financial burden too. We look forward to Naim’s continued support in time to come,’ Lee remarked.
Meanwhile, two award recipients, Siti Zulaikha Binti Abdullah and Kong Teck Ming, said they were very thankful for the awards and would utilise the award to buy necessities for their studies.
