KUCHING: Naim Group of Companies has taken another step towards achieving its sustainability goals, by putting an electric vehicle (EV) charger in one of its high-end developments here, the Naim Sapphire Condominium Home.
Naim, Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) and technical partner Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) collaborated in the initiative.
Naim also brought in the Tesla Model III electric car, courtesy of Mega Otomobil Sdn Bhd (MOSB).
Naim Sapphire, which features three upmarket condominium towers, is also the first condominium development involved in such a collaboration.
In a statement on Wednesday (Feb 23), Naim chief operating officer Bryan Chen disclosed that Naim had always been committed to its sustainability agenda.
“‘We have embedded sustainability considerations in our business strategies and operations in pursuit of this agenda.
“As part of our commitment to sustainability, we would also like to encourage our stakeholders such as our customers and clients to embrace sustainability.
“The EV charger initiative is part of our efforts to reach out to our stakeholders on the importance of sustainability.
“We would like to thank SEB and MGTC for this collaboration, and also MOSB for its support.
“We hope that everyone can play a part in pursuing sustainability.”
Naim is no stranger to sustainability, having undertaken a number of initiatives, including the ‘Go Green Rocks’ environmental conservation programme in collaboration with the Sarawak Forest Department.
Apart from that, the ‘Naim Better Homes’ community wellbeing programme involved building homes for the underprivileged.
Naim also established a volunteer firefighting team to assist authorities in the fight against bushfires, the Naim Foundation Academic Excellence Awards, and many others.
As a recognition for the its efforts in sustainability, Naim was also adjudged a winner of the 9th Sarawak Chief Minister’s Environmental Award for 2019-2020, marking its sixth consecutive win of the award.
