KUCHING: The Trienekens truck hijacker that crashed into a property of a policeman at RPR Batu Kawah on Saturday was arrested early yesterday morning.
Padawan police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said the 36-year-old suspect known as ‘Najib Puntong’ was arrested at 1am near the Chinese Museum by Main Bazaar Road here.
It is understood that the suspect admitted that he had rammed into the property (front gate and car) using a rented sedan car.
“The suspect also admitted to having hijacked a garbage truck belonging to Trienekens before slamming the vehicle into the house that caused a section of the wall to collapse.
“The cause of the incident was because the suspect was dissatisfied with and angered by the victim’s act in persuading the suspect’s wife to lodge a police report in relation to their relationship problems,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Aidil revealed that police had also seized a black foldable knife and a mobile phone from the suspect who had 25 criminal records.
He pointed out that the 36-year-old victim, a policeman, had lodged a police report following the incident, of a man known a ‘Najib Puntong’ had rammed into his house using a garbage truck on Jan 4 (Saturday) at 1.05pm.
The case is under investigation.
