SIMUNJAN: Batang Sadong MP Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri is leaving it to the top leadership of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to decide whether she should defend her seat in the 15th General Election (GE15).
She said all candidates were subject to the decision of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is GPS chairman and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) president.
“Who becomes a candidate is his (Premier) choice, taking into consideration the performance, acceptance, response and support for an elected representative.
“We are just carrying out the task, if re-nominated, we will shoulder the task and try to bring more reforms,” she said at the Rice and Annual Grant Handover Programme in conjunction with the Gawai celebration at the Sri Simunjan Rest House on Monday (May 30).
In GE14, Nancy who contested under the Barisan Nasional (BN) ticket won 14,208 votes for a majority of 12,328 votes against Othman Mustapha @ Mos of Pakatan Harapan (PH) who only managed 1,880 votes.
