KUCHING: The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate for Santubong Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri says the overwhelming support from the people in the area has been an encouragement and motivation for her to be their elected representative.

She shared that having to change to a new parliamentary area is a scary moment for her, however, she was moved that the people in the area accepted her as the candidate replacing Santubong incumbent Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

“The friendliness of the people in the constituency becomes a motivating factor for me especially when I go on the field to meet the rakyat myself.

“Personally for me, I am fired up to be the elected representative in a new area. For that, I seek full support from the voters during this election,” she said.

She was speaking at a Ramah Mesra Bersama KMKK Pantai Damai programme at the Waterfront Hotel here on yesterday (Nov 7).

Nancy applauded the assemblymen in the area along with its incumbent for carrying out projects that showed they were focused on providing services to the people.

“I am grateful that with the excellent services that have been provided by them, the new representative of the people here will not be burdened.”

Meanwhile, sharing on when she was an MP in Batang Sadong, she stated that it is crucial for the assemblymen to collaborate with their MPs.

“The assemblymen and the MPs need to work together to discuss comprehensively about their projects and planning to avoid any duplication on the allocation of projects.

“When I go on the field in Santubong, I am fortunate that the constituency’s service centres along with the assemblymen in the area updated me with information regarding the current status of the projects there, their planning as well as what has been in the area.

“InsyaAllah (if I am elected as the Santubong MP), we will have a close collaboration and discussion among the elected representatives,” she said.
