KUCHING: The younger generation of Muslims is using technology to not only learn about their religion but to also question, teach, and network among one another. This was said by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri during the launching ceremony of the Sarawak Islamic Information Centre (SIIC) mobile application and the IIC Corner at the State Library here yesterday.

“It is now easier for them to do research on Islam as compared to the past when it was harder to obtain information. “In the past, they had to consult educational and religious institutions but today information is just right there at their fingertips.

“Technology also benef i t s Muslims of all ages as it helps them, such as when they travel to non-Muslim countries and want to look for halal restaurants or know the prayer times. “Muslims also don’t need to carry the Quran around anymore; instead they can download an application on their smartphone and read from there,” she said.
