LUNDU: The International Friendship Pathway event, which took place on Today (Nov 17), is the first step towards putting Lundu’s name on the global map.
Caretaker Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said more would be done to promote Lundu.
The event, part of the 25th Miss Tourism International World Final 2022/2023, featured 40 national representatives leaving their footprints at Lundu Waterfront.
“Today’s event is truly meaningful to Lundu,” said Nancy when officiating at the event launching and footprint placement at Dewan Masyarakat, here.
“They have actually planned this programme since last year, mainly for tourism purposes.
“The 40 countries and the international people coming from overseas are putting Lundu’s name on the map of the world. So this is the first step towards it, and hopefully it doesn’t end here.
“There’s more to this kind of programme. We are promoting Lundu more.”
The 25th Miss Tourism International World Final pageant competitors were also given a special opportunity to visit the Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS) here earlier.
An engagement session was also held with students and local residents, followed by participation in the traditional dance performances of the local Selakau minority and visiting a local textile production.
Also present during the launching of the International Friendship Pathway event were Tanjong Datu assemblymen Azizul Annuar Adenan, Founder of D’Touch International Tan Sri Datuk Danny Ooi, Chairlady of the 25th Miss Tourism International World Final 2022/2023 Esther Law and Lundu District Officer Gustian Durani.
