KAPIT: Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi donated a total of RM2,000 to two families whose houses were razed to the ground by fire at Sungai Pelajau, Jalan Bukit Goram last Monday afternoon.

He presented the financial assistance to Siban Bujang and his sister, Bawang, who received on behalf of their families, yesterday morning.

Also present were Kapit District Officer Elvis Didit and Kapit Welfare Department Assistant Director, Peter Gabong.

Meanwhile the Malaysian Red Crescent Kapit Society donated RM300 each in cash and cloths while the Lions Club Kapit and Kiong Seng General Store jointly donated food items and drinks worth some RM500 to the fire victims.

The Welfare Department here has approved government assistances include food aids, kitchen utensils, clothing, immediate cash, school bags and writing materials including building materials worth RM9,850 to each family.
