KAPIT: Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi joined the Muslim community here for the traditional ‘sungkei’ (break of fast) during the Bubur Lambuk Convoy Programme and Iftar ceremony on Sunday (March 24).

Despite his busy schedule, he saw it as an opportunity to connect with the community and strengthen bonds during the holy month.

Nanta, who is Kapit MP, expressed his longing for such gatherings and stressed the importance of fostering unity and kinship.

“Due to my busy schedule and rarely being able to spare time, I really miss such gatherings where I can meet and chat with our brothers and sisters, especially those who are Muslims, in this holy month,” he said.

Additionally, he looked forward to a more festive celebration, free from the constraints of Covid-19.

He also expressed hope that the people of Kapit could maintain their kinship and ties to live in peace and harmony.

During the event, he distributed food baskets and ‘duit raya’ to 26 recipients, as well as porridge to the traders at the Ramadan bazaar.
