KUCHING: Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi has pledged to continue the legacy of his late grandfather, Tun Datuk Patinggi Temenggong Jugah Barieng.
He affirmed his dedication to this cause, even in the face of political challenges that sometimes plague the nation.
As the grandson of one of the founding fathers of Malaysia, Nanta witnessed his grandfather’s pivotal role as a Dayak community leader in the formation of Malaysia. This experience has instilled in him a strong sense of responsibility and optimism.
“Despite the occasional political turmoil, I always maintain hope that things will improve. This is because I feel a deep responsibility to ensure that we continue to strive for the best, making Malaysia a harmonious nation where its people are united and progressing,” he expressed during a podcast by Sinar Daily titled ‘From Malaya to Malaysia: Sarawak and Development’ on yesterday (Sept 1).
In his capacity as the Works Minister, Nanta pledged to work tirelessly for the people of Sarawak and Malaysia as a whole.
“My ministry is a very important ministry. That is why I tell, and remind myself all the time that I have to dedicate myself to do my best because everything depends on how I perform my duties.
“This is not only in terms of nation building but also physically as we are the implementers of infrastructural development, ports, hospitals, schools, airports, road networks, highways, and many more,” he said.
