KUALA LUMPUR: Assistant Minister for E-Commerce, Entrepreneur and Small, Medium Enterprise (SME) Development Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais led a team from MITeC to pay a courtesy call on China’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Bai Tian yesterday.
Naroden invited Bai Tian to be a keynote speaker for the upcoming Sarawak-China Business Forum on Aug 6-7 at the Waterfront Hotel here.
He explained to the China Ambassador the details of the programme and explained to him the meaning of the logo for the forum. Bai Tian was amazed by the logo design and motivated by its meaning.
Bai Tian was also overwhelmed to see that Naroden and the MITeC members were motivated to improve and enhance economic cooperation with China and generate employment in Sarawak.
His was willing to promote Sarawak to China investors and encourage more collaboration between China and Sarawak, a region rich in natural in resources.
However, Bai Tian informed Naroden with regret that he could not attend the upcoming forum due to his busy schedule. He wished the forum a success and that Sarawak will become a topic of interest for China.
There are many potential China companies willing to invest in Sarawak and Bai Tian has never failed to promote Sarawak which is blessed with abundance hydro, coal and gas.
The upcoming forum, he said, is a great effort to encourage more China companies to invest in Sarawak and good for future co-operation.
He also suggested it is about time for MITeC to expand and manage the transportation and logistics issues for Sarawak, adding Sarawak can be a hotspot for investors.
“I’m excited to see the outcome of the forum which will have a great impact on Sarawak’s economic development. Furthermore, China has some 130 million tourists travelling around the world and I see hidden beauty in Sarawak as well. Hence, it is important that Sarawak capitalise on the Chinese tourism industry and find the best way to link with China travel agencies,” he said.
