OYA: A ride on a narrow and rugged road surface has become a thing of the past for the residents of Kampung Teh here.

This was following the completion of the village’s road widening project and the construction of concrete drain along the road, recently.

Implemented under the Rural Transformation Project(RTP), these state government projects were officially declared open by Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah yesterday.

It is learnt that the  widening of the 1.1- kilometre road costing RM372,820 was under the supervision of the local Public Works Department (JKR Mukah), while, the RM400,000 concrete drain project, was under the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID Mukah).

Fatimah, who is also Dalat state assemblywoman and hails from Kampung Teh, expressed her gratefulness for the completion of the two minor infrastructural projects which meant a lot for the comfort of the villagers.

Indeed the event was also considered timely because normally  during this period of wet weather most of the low-lying areas in Dalat district in general would be facing flash floods especially after the heavy downpour.

Hence, the proper drainage system is believed be able to minimise the impact of the wet weather or high tide.
