KAPIT: NASA Space Apps Sarawak will host a 48-hour Physical Hackathon at the University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) in Sibu from Oct 5-6.

Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Minister Datuk Seri Roland Sagah said NASA Space Apps Sarawak is part of the world’s largest annual international hackathon, designed to tackle real-world challenges set by NASA experts.

“This government initiative aims to engage Sarawakian students in earth and space sciences while offering a global platform for local talents to solve real-world issues,” he said during the launch of the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2024, here recently.

He also encouraged the public to register for NASA Space Apps Sarawak via the official website, which is now open.

The event aims to attract 5,000 participants and offers various functional technologies to assist in project development and the presentation of innovative solutions.

The programme is organised in collaboration with the United States Embassy, Junior Chamber International (JCI) Lutong, Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (Tegas), Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation, Realfun Learning Centre, and SOL Digital, with support from the Sarawak Multimedia Authority, MEO Studio, Maxis, SAINS, and SOCOE.
