KUCHING: The Department of Information (JAPEN) Malaysia, Sarawak, will once again ignite patriotic fervour with Ekspresi Bulan Kebangsaan 2024 Peringkat Sarawak or Sarawak Level National Expression Month.

This year, the event will take place on Sunday (May 19) at the Mydin Petra Jaya supermarket here.

It marks the beginning of the countdown to the celebrations of National Day and Malaysia Day 2024. It aims to raise awareness among the public about the significance of these important dates in Malaysia’s history.

Additionally, the programme’s main objective is to foster unity in celebrating National Day and Malaysia Day 2024 and to encourage voluntary participation from civil society.

The programme will be officiated by Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department, Datuk Seri John Sikie Tayai. It will also be held simultaneously at two other locations: the Kuala Lumpur Sentral Station, inaugurated by federal Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, and the Central Atrium, ITCC Penampang, Sabah, inaugurated by Sabah Finance Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun.

In Kuching, various activities will take place, including a national quiz, a children’s colouring competition, performances by PENTARAMA JAPEN Sarawak artists, free health screenings by the Kuching Divisional Health Office, as well as exhibitions by various agencies and departments.

These events will be organised in collaboration with strategic partners such as Affin Bank, the State Consumer Action Council (MTPN), FINAS, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM) Sarawak, and JAPEN Sarawak.
