KUCHING: A total of 30 participants attended the National Jombola Clinic at the Jabatan Belia dan Sukan here from Oct 5-6.
The event, organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia in collaboration with the Malaysia Jombola Association and the Sarawak Jombola Association, aimed to introduce the new sport of Jombola across Malaysia.
The clinic was conducted by Sarawak Jombola Association head instructor Ahmad Rodzli Hashim, along with Dr Ong Kong Swee and three other trained Sarawak instructors.
Sukhdev Singh, president of the Malaysia Jombola Association and the creator of the sport, was present to observe the clinic’s progress and development.
Participants were provided with racquets and balls to help them introduce the sport to their communities and schools in Kuching and Samarahan.
Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon, who is the president of the Sarawak Jombola Association, stated that there are plans to conduct more clinics and competitions across Sarawak.
Some of the upcoming events on the calendar include:
Nov 19-20, 2024: Sarawak Jombola (Bintulu) competitions in conjunction with National Sports Month, to be held at Stadium Muhibbah, Bintulu.
Dec 12-14, 2024: National Inter-State Jombola competitions in Kuala Lumpur.
May 2025: National Inter-State Jombola competitions in Kuala Lumpur.
