KUCHING: The stability of the nation must come first, said Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice president, Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.

Regardless of the political impasse in Malaya, the most important thing for Sarawak is for the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition to be united and support the government in stabilising the country.

“Whatever is happening, we must make sure that Malaysia is stable. The Malaysian government must continue to be the most stable government in the Southeast Asia region,” he said.

The Prime Minister’s Office had announced the appointment of Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as Deputy Prime Minister in a statement on Wednesday.

Ismail Sabri also retains his Defence Minister post while Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein was appointed as Senior Minister (Security Cluster).

“If what Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhiyiddin Yassin has done is for the good of the people and country, we will support him,” Dr Rundi added.
