BINTULU: A drug trafficker and 26 drug addicts were arrested in a special operation led by the Sarawak Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) between Oct 29 and 30.

According to Bintulu police chief Supt Nixon Joshua Ali, the suspect believed to be a drug trafficker, is being investigated under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Police also seized 20 grammes of suspected methamphetamine, which could supply the needs of up to 40 users.

“The operation, which involved collaboration between the Sarawak, Sibu and Bintulu NCIDs, also led to the arrests of 26 drug addicts in several raided locations.

“In addition, it aims to gather intelligence and identify drug supply sources, curb drug trafficking activities in the district, and raise community awareness regarding the dangers of drugs,” he said.

In light of this, police are determined to combat the country’s number one enemy, drugs, and urged the public to continue providing information on illegal drug distribution activities to the police.
