KUCHING: Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Roland Sagah said there is a need for more institutions to provide education to the younger generation.
A report from the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) quoted him as saying this will consequently help modernise the main sectors in the state.
He said this at the closing of the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) main lab here Wednesday.
Sagaha who is GKCDA steering committee chairman also expressed concern that the allocation of RM1.5 billion to the GKCDA may not be sufficient if it is to be divided among the 10 state constituencies under it.
He therefore hoped the assemblymen from the respective areas will identify the agency’s capacity in implementing proposed projects.
Balai Ringin has now been included under the agency, adding to Opar, Tanjong Datu, Tasik Biru, Serembu, Mambong, Tarat, Kedup, Bukit Semuja and Tebedu.
The main lab which was held from Feb 27 saw the participation of various strategic agencies and representatives from each constituency.
Also present at the closing ceremony were Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, Miro Simuh (Serembu), John Ilus (Bukit Semuja), Billy Sujang (Opar), Dr Simon Sinang Bada (Tebedu) and special administrative officer of GKCDA Datuk Ik Pahon Joyik.
