KUCHING: Majlis Seni Sarawak BoD member Marzuki Tambi has called for a gallery where artists can display their artwork and at the same time create an opportunity for community engagement.
“In order to have an Intangible Culture Heritage Gallery, we would need a curator, a designer and an expert.
“Therefore, having a gallery would depend on the curator which allows for more community engagement,” he said.
He said this when officiating at the ‘The Bin Art Exhibition’ launching held at Saradise Gallery on Saturday (Feb 11) Marzuki, who is also Malaysia Arts and Cultural Practitioners Association (MACPA) president, applauded the ‘The Bin Art Exhibition’ initiative.
“I fully support the programme, the benefits of this programme are not just for academics.
“It is an interesting collaboration, with different entities, such as Saradise, together contributing to art,” he said.
The exhibition is sponsored by Majlis Seni Sarawak (MSS) and jointly organised by Semarak Creative Sdn Bhd, the Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Aftermath Thinker from Kolej Pengajian Kreatif of Universiti Teknologi Mara, and Saradise Gallery.
