KUCHING: Sarawak Initiative (TSI) Welfare Project Team together with the Karma Kagyu Dharma Society and The Society for Kuching Urban Poor (SKUP) provided blankets and towels to less fortunate folk affected by the current rainy season.
The areas hard hit included Kampung Kudei, Kampung Sungai Apong, Poh Kwong Park and Song Kheng Hai.
“The blankets and towels were provided to the victims to keep them warm and dry (during heavy rain and flash floods).
“The non-governmental organisations (NGO) envision a Sarawak in which citizens can live in a safe environment free of any worry concerning their homes made uninhabitable due to circumstances caused by natural disasters such as floods,” said TSI in a statement on Thursday (Feb 4).
Under this project, the NGOs also aimed to spread awareness to the public about the living conditions of the those affected by flash floods and hoped that more people would come forward to lend a helping hand to the poor.
