Needy pupils receive school bags

PADAWAN: Pupils from three primary schools here received school bags courtesy of Persatuan Gerakan Kemajuan Kota Padawan in collaboration with Batu Kitang constituency.

A total of 300 school bags were distributed to the schools namely SJK Chung Hua Batu 10 (150), SK Landeh (75), and SK St David (75).

Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang who is also Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman, who presented the donations to SJK Chung Hua Batu 10 on Friday, said the school bags are given to the needy pupils.

“We are thankful to the non-governmental organisations (NGOs) which have helped by donating daily necessities to the people in this constituency,” he said.

Lo disclosed that he had purchased automatic temperature scanners worth a total of RM3,600 for five schools – SJK Chung Hua Batu 10, SK Batu Kitang, SK Jalan Arang, SJK Chung Hua Batu 4 1/2 and SJK Sam Hap Hin.

He also expressed his gratitude to the State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) for having disinfected schools, places of worship and public places in the constituency.

“I am pleased with all these work being done for the community. We have shown that we have a strong sense of volunteerism and community engagement,” he said.
