SIBU: Neighbourhood Committee (KRT) Kiew Nang Poh will hold a talk on e-billing for the public including the elderly at the premises of Sibu Foochow Association in Jalan Salim here on Sunday (Nov 6) from 9am to 11.30am.

According to KRT Kiew Nang Poh chairman Kapitan Connie Loh Ming Hua, the talk being supported by Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) is to share knowledge on e-billing with the public besides encouraging and helping them register for e-billing.

“It is important for all of us living in Sibu to learn about e-billing. As we know, a lot of things in our life have been digitalised. Digitalisation is the new trend and it is going to be the future.

“It is important that we pick up and continuously learn new digital skills, and stay up to date with the new technology,” she told a press conference here today (Nov 4).

Loh pointed out that e-billing was not meant to make life more difficult or complicated, but to make life easier and more convenient.

She explained that with e-billing, instead of having to travel all the way down physically to the town centres or shops to make payment for the bills, the payment could easily be done electronically.

Apart from indirectly solve traffic congestion issues, she said e-billings enable the elderly, who could not drive or might be living very far from the town centre, to make payments of their bills without leaving home.

Meanwhile, Loh stated the talk also includes topics on rabies and dengue which are issues that continue to pose a threat to society.
