KUCHING: Quick action by a concerned neighbour managed to prevent a nursery home at Jalan Belatok, Taman Malihah from being destroyed in a fire yesterday.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the small fire had caused 10 per cent damages on the exterior part of the house beam.
Firemen from Petra Jaya station were deployed to the scene after receiving a distressed call around 5.25pm.
Upon arrival, they found that the fire was already extinguished by a neighbour with a fire extinguisher.
The team later took over the scene to ensure that the situation was safe before wrapping up the operation.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
