KUCHING: The Neu Pendington project, a collaboration between UDA Holdings Berhad (UDA) and the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), has emerged as a strategic focal point for Kuching, said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

The phased development will feature 594 residential units and 190 commercial units, with prices starting at RM418,000 for apartments and RM848,000 for commercial spaces in Phase 1, making it accessible to various income groups.

Abang Johari explained that the Neu Pendington project will include a range of real estate offerings, including a hotel, shopping mall, condominiums, and residential areas, all linked to the upcoming Automated Rail Transit (ART) station.

“This ART station will connect with the Petra Jaya area, including the Sarawak Sports Complex, as well as the road leading to Kota Samarahan,” he said at the closing of the last leg of the UDA Carnival @ Sarawak held at the Neu Pendington project site here today (Oct 27).
.
“This area (Neu Pendington) actually has two routes to Samarahan. The first is the existing road that goes directly to the area, and the second is through Sejingkat, which, after the completion of the Sejingkat Bridge, will connect Pending with the new road to Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas),” he said.

In this regard, he said the strategic development in the area also has a positive impact on economic growth, especially in Kuching City.

“Currently, we are advancing the ART system, which is eco-friendly and carbon-free, and we hope it will encourage more visitors to Sarawak,” he added.

UDA Holdings Berhad CEO and President Datuk Mohd Salem Kailany explained that the SR12 Pending (Red Line) ART station will have direct access to Neu Pendington, enhancing its appeal to buyers and investors.

He said the project will also include a 12-storey hotel with 168 rooms and a shopping mall.

Earlier, UDA reiterated its commitment to social responsibility through its Corporate Social Responsibility programme ‘UDA Cares’, which saw RM40,000 in zakat contributions distributed to 400 asnaf students in Sarawak, an initiative UDA hopes will foster the saving habit among youth in partnership with PTPTN.
