KUCHING: Twenty-five coaches attended an ongoing MHC Level 2 hockey coaching course which began Tuesday.
The four-day course is being sponsored by the Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) and the Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS) with the Malaysian Hockey Confederation.
The theoretical aspect is being held at the Kuching Park Hotel while the practical is conducted at the Sarawak Hockey Stadium along Jalan Padungan here.
Sarawak State Sports Council chief coach C Sivasubramaniam thanked the SSC and MSNS for
helping to organise the course which he said is very important to help develop the game among the coaches and raise the standard of the game.
“We have Tai Beng Hai and Yahaya Atan — two of the most experienced coaches — to help us conduct the course as they teach the advanced level of coaching which is a new syllabus in coaching.
“The participants who are mostly teachers from throughout Sarawak will undoubtedly benefit from the course,” said Sivasubramaniam.
He said the course which is specific to hockey is held for the first time in Sarawak.
According to a participant, Fairul Nizam, a teacher from SMK Betong, the course is a new thing which is very important to help develop players to a higher level.
It has another important aspect such as adding fun to training which makes it less boring, he said.
