KUALA LUMPUR: The Sarawak-Australia Business Chamber (SABC) has announced the appointment of the new Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia, Her Excellency Danielle Heinecke, as its patron.

The announcement was made during a courtesy call by SABC Council members, led by president Rodger Chan Siong Boh, at the Australian High Commission’s office here last May 29.

During the meeting, SABC presented Heinecke with a letter of appointment, officially welcoming her as the patron of SABC. This follows the appointment of the Deputy High Commissioner, Simon Fellows, as vice patron of SABC late last year.

The SABC has also extended an invitation to Heinecke to visit Sarawak and the High Commissioner has accepted the invitation and plans to visit Sarawak later this year.

The relationship between Sarawak and Australia has a long history, dating back to the Second World War and the Colombo Plan.

The SABC aims to extend this relationship into enhanced trade and strengthen relations between Sarawak and Australia.
